The General Election Commission (KPU) of Indonesia has announced the schedule for the stages of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) to be held in 37 provinces in Indonesia. This election will not take place in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) because DIY has special regulations that do not involve elections for the appointment of the governor and deputy governor. It is known that Yogyakarta has special regulations that are only possessed by a few other regions in Indonesia. This is stipulated in Law Number 13 of 2012 concerning the Special Status of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) .

Chairman of the Nahdliyin Journalists Forum (FJN), Muhammad Didi Rosadi, expressed his approval of the large number of young Nahdliyin figures whose names are included in the list of regional head candidates in East Java. He said that FJN, as an association of Nahdliyin journalists, has consistently supported young NU figures, including through the annual Inspiring Young Nahdliyin Figures appreciation event.

Regarding the North Sumatra gubernatorial election, Ahok has already communicated with PDIP politician Landen Marbun and North Sumatra PDIP Chairman Rapidin Simbolon. Ahok is still waiting for the PDIP Rakernas to conclude.

nThe officials present included Acting Director General of Political and Public Administration Togap Simangunsong, Deputy Coordinator for Domestic Political Affairs at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Major General TNI Heri Wiranto, Assistant Deputy for Election and Political Party Management Brigadier General TNI Haryadi, Assistant Intelligence TNI Djaka Budhi Utama, Deputy Director of National Security Agency Police, Member of DKPP I Dewa Kade Wiarsa, Secretary of DIY, and Klaten Regent Sri Mulyani

“The young NU generation that will compete in the Pilkada has a lot of potential to be elected. They are spread across various parties and professions. Many also have a pesantren background,” said Lasio.

“Mr. Ahok and Mr. Djarot are being urged to run in North Sumatra. This is interesting because North Sumatra needs significant changes,” said Eriko at the PDIP DPP Office, Central Jakarta, as quoted on Friday (17/5/2024).

Ari Yusuf Amin launched the argument by mentioning that Head of state Jokowi nurtured purposes to continue his guideline. As a 3rd technique, the emphasis changed to selecting a follower, an action that is currently being sought in the lead-up to the 2024 governmental election.

n”Technically, I ask KPU friends at the provincial, regency/city levels to always coordinate with local governments, the military, police, prosecutors, and courts, so that in carrying out their work or tasks, the election organizers can work well,” said Hasyim

“If the party instructs, I am ready to go anywhere, even Papua. That is the answer of a true cadre. All PDIP cadres must be ready to go anywhere if the party commands,” Rapidin recounted Ahok’s response.

Besides Ahok, Rapidin mentioned several other names have registered with PDIP to run for the North Sumatra gubernatorial election. These include incumbent Edy Rahmayadi and Musa Rajekshah, also known as Ijeck.

“One factor is electability, right, and the second is capability. That’s clear. Sahroni may have capability, we are confident in that, he is a young man, but his electability for the Jakarta field needs to be carefully considered,” said Paloh.

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto commented on the speculation about a duet between Anies Baswedan and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, also known as Ahok, as governor and deputy governor candidates in the Jakarta Pilkada. Hasto stated that his party is open to the nation’s best talents.

More accusations included Head of state Jokowi’s alleged use his priests and the mobilization of regional officials, law enforcement agency, and also low-level government operatives such as village heads to secure victory for the Prabowo-Gibran ticket. This use of government sources and employees for political campaigning existed as evidence of an unfair benefit and a violation of political election conduct.
