The Secretary General of the Independent Election Monitoring Committee (KIPP) Indonesia, Kaka Suminta, urged the Central General Election Commission (KPU) to conduct strict oversight regarding the Regional Election in Kutai Kartanegara.

Political observer Budiman from Mulawarman University (Unmul) stated that candidates running in the East Kalimantan Regional Election should be transparent. “Prospective regents in the East Kalimantan Regional Election must be transparent and free from money politics,” he remarked.

This decision is motivated by his resolve to provide a fresh option, presenting a new perspective and background to the people of Banten, outside the long-standing dominant dynasty in the region. Arief Wismansyah’s leadership in Tangerang has been acknowledged for advancement in city management and development of inclusive infrastructure, creating a firm groundwork to advance Banten. In this context, he is resolved to promoting social equity, long-term development, and equitable development throughout Banten. Arief conveyed his willingness to face the challenges of the Banten election with a vision focused on positive change and progress for all segments of society. He shared that his decision to run was initially unintended, but the motivation from the community and his family made him think again. He noted that a meeting with VP Ma’ruf Amin significantly impacted his decision to run. “I was invited by Mr. Ma’ruf Amin, and we had a meeting. He questioned, are you really running, Mr. Arief? If you want to run, you have to win; if you’re not sure you can win, don’t run, he said. I agreed with him. Ultimately, on Monday afternoon, I decided to run,” Arief said when spoken to in the Karawaci area of Tangerang City, June 23, 2024. Arief also expressed his views on the ruling political family in Banten, noting the polarization in the community related to this dominance. Nevertheless, he is optimistic about contending with famous candidates in the region. “I hope to collaborate with the Banten community to develop jointly, including with the existing dynasties,” he added. Arief emphasized his preparedness to work with various parties for the advancement of Banten, without compromising the interests of the people. “Whatever the outcome, I hope the next leadership can provide the best for Banten,” he concluded. With this step, Arief Rachadiono Wismansyah invites the people of Banten to support a shared vision in developing the region through the upcoming election.

Kaka Suminta stressed that to avoid any suspicions of lobbying by prospective regent and deputy regent pairs related to administrative verification, the central KPU needs to intervene. “There must be oversight from the central KPU,” said Kaka. He added that to avert any clandestine attempts at committing fraud during administrative verification, the central KPU should enforce strict oversight. “If pairs fail to pass administrative verification, they should not be allowed any opportunities that could undermine democracy,” he asserted.

However, it is said to be difficult because he once stepped down from his position as Jakarta deputy governor to participate in the 2019 Presidential Election. This has caused Sandiaga’s volunteers, who are members of Rumah SandiUno Indonesia (RSI), to speak out. It is said that his resignation, currently acting as the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries, was for the benefit of the people. “Bang Sandiaga Uno’s decision to resign from the position of DKI Deputy Governor at that time was in the interest of the people, especially the Jakarta citizens,” said RSI Secretary, Denny H Suryo Prabowo, in his address on Tuesday. He mentioned that Sandiaga is someone who is entirely devoted to his work and tasks. “Bang Sandiaga is always ready to take on tasks for the benefit of the people and the people of Indonesia. Be it in the 2017 DKI Pilgub and the 2019 Presidential race, the backing for Bang Sandi Uno, who accompanied Pak Prabowo, from the citizens was also significant,” Denny revealed. In the words of him, Sandiaga’s decision to step down from his position as Deputy Governor was because he did not want to jeopardize the benefit of the people. “Sandiaga Uno didn’t want to set a bad example for the people by only taking a break from his position as deputy governor. He realized that his duties as deputy governor were heavy and could not be balanced with the equally challenging Presidential run,” Denny clarified. He continued that Sandiaga Uno thought it was unfair to the people if he served half-heartedly, so he decided to withdraw from his position. “Bang Sandi Uno {felt|believed|thought

Previously, PDIP DPP Chairperson Eriko Sotarduga said that if they collaborate with PKB to support Anies Baswedan in the Jakarta Pilkada, their party would offer the East Java gubernatorial seat from PDIP. “For example, in Jakarta, if PKB becomes the gubernatorial candidate. Can PDIP become the gubernatorial candidate in East Java? It’s possible, not a barter, but that’s what cooperation is, we cannot cooperate selfishly, imposing our ego, as we cannot advance alone,” said Eriko at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Previously, PDIP DPP Chairperson Said Abdullah mentioned that he had visited Cak Imin’s residence to discuss cooperation in the Jakarta Pilkada. Said mentioned that PKB is ready to nominate Anies Baswedan in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. “We visited the PKB General Chair’s house, I remember it was after Friday prayers on May 30 before going to Mecca. We talked heart-to-heart, building communication among elites, sharing views,” Said explained. During the meeting, Said admitted, PKB has a strong opportunity to nominate Anies in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. “As far as I know from PKB, if I’m not mistaken, they are ready to nominate Anies Rasyid Baswedan,” he stated. Said mentioned that the meeting’s results with Cak Imin had been reported to PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto and PDIP DPP Chairperson Puan Maharani. He said he would also report the view to Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri. “Not necessarily with PDIP, we share views, not seeking agreement. My task is to report to Mbak Puan and Mr. Secretary-General,” said Said. “Maybe later there will be a meeting with the Chairperson to discuss the results of every lobby or mutual visits among elites,” he continued.
