Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mr. Tjahjanto urges the Indonesian National Armed Forces-Police to be vigilant in the implementation of the concurrent Pilkada of 2024.

Typically, the Pilkada is held in two phases, specifically the local implementation and the dispute route at the Constitutional Court (Mahkamah Konstitusi). “Typically, if the Pilkada is conducted twice, it means what? It means initially conducted locally, and then at the MK,” stated Hadi while giving instructions in the Coordination Meeting of the 2024 simultaneous Pilkada organizers in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on June 26th. “That’s why the TNI-Polri must be cautious about security during the actual Pilkada and during the MK sessions, ensuring the readiness of the TNI-Polri forces to safeguard the regions,” he continued. Hadi hopes the 2024 Pilkada stages will proceed smoothly and securely without any hindrances in their conduct. Additionally, post-Pilkada security must also be guaranteed. Hadi added that political and legal stability is crucial. According to him, the state and condition of Polhukam stability will greatly influence the Pilkada stages. “We agree that all components of the nation and state need to maintain political, legal, and security stability for the 2024 Pilkada,” he concluded. Preventing Conflict Before the 2024 Pilkada Hadi Tjahjanto provided a special message to the TNI, Polri, and BIN for the security of the 2024 concurrent Pilkada. Hadi advised that regions with potential conflicts must be addressed before security issues occur. He stated this while giving instructions in the Coordination Meeting of the 2024 Pilkada organizers in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on June 26th, 2024. “Specifically TNI, Polri, and BIN. BIN was also attending, in the mapping of regions, have to determine regions with possible conflicts to mitigate security issues before they arise,” stated Hadi. “TNI, Polri, and BIN have to be alert, aware beforehand, so that they can anticipate any potential issues,” he added. Furthermore, Hadi called for synergy from local governments in facilitating the 2024 Pilkada implementation. If local governments do not facilitate, the concurrent Pilkada will certainly be hindered. “Therefore, total synergy can ensure the successful conduct of the 2024 concurrent Pilkada,” he said. Hadi reminded local governments to take strategic steps, including avoiding overlaps between the central and local governments.

Secretary-General of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Eddy Soeparno mentioned that the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) agreed to support the same candidate in several regions participating in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. “We stated from the beginning that the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, especially for the DKI Pilkada, we will decide to support a uniform candidate pair, and

Additionally, Syaikhu said his party also listened to various inputs from figures, clerics, habaib, interfaith leaders, religious leaders, intellectuals, and the people of DKI Jakarta. “The main considerations are candidates with good leadership experience in both executive and legislative branches, a proven track record, high credibility, capacity, and a high probability of winning,” he said.

The meeting addressed inflation and the 2024 regional elections (Pilkada). “Oh yes, when party leaders meet, they talk about many things. But what we discussed was inflation. We also discussed the Pilkada,” Zulhas said reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Friday, June 14, 2024. Zulhas mentioned he proposed ex-Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, to be put forward for the 2023 Jakarta Pilkada. According to him, the suggestion was agreed upon by the party chairpersons present at the meeting. “Yes, I suggested Ridwan Kamil for Jakarta, and everyone was in agreement,” he stated. When asked whether Kaesang would accompany Ridwan Kamil in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, Zulkifli Hasan said that it has not been determined yet. However, he noted that the party leaders required Kaesang to secure the Pilkada. “Yes, I think. I reported at that time to the President whether Kaesang would be allowed to. The President said, ‘No’. But the parties need him,” he said. “Yes, but the parties require him. For what? To win,” Zulhas continued. He thinks that Ridwan Kamil wouldn’t have an issue with whoever accompanies him in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, as long as it ensures victory. Zulkifli Hasan mentioned that Ridwan Kamil’s running mate would be discussed by the party leaders. “Mr. RK (Ridwan Kamil) would accept anyone as long as they win. As long as they win, we will discuss,” said Zulkifli Hasan.
