“The PKS DPP, in a meeting on Thursday, June 20, 2024, has decided to nominate Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan as the prospective gubernatorial candidate and Mr. Sohibul Iman as the prospective vice-gubernatorial candidate,” said Syaikhu.

Regarding the voter participation rate in the regional elections, Ummi said that the West Java KPU targets more than 75 percent participation. The total number of voters in West Java is estimated to be around 35-36 million.

Bagja explained that the selection process is also ongoing, specifically the selection of Ad Hoc Panwas prepared by Bawaslu’s Human Resources (HR) Division. Meanwhile, he mentioned that the evaluation is related to the performance of the Ad Hoc Panwas during the previous Presidential and Legislative Elections. “If during the Presidential and Legislative Elections the Ad Hoc Panwas did not perform well, of course, we can evaluate and re-select for the Pilkada,” said Bagja.

“Actually, our evaluation and selection are being formulated today and will be completed soon. We will inform the Panwas (Supervisory Committee) in the regions, and the Bawaslu at the regency/city level to conduct the evaluation process for the Panwas at the sub-district level,” said Bawaslu RI Chairman Rahmat Bagja at the Bawaslu RI Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (16/4/2024), as reported by Antara.

“Because the regulations for regional elections and general elections are different. For general elections, each TPS has no more than 300 voters, while for regional elections, it can have up to 800 voters,” she explained.

**Reasons PKS Nominated Anies Baswedan-Sohibul Iman in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada** The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) formally endorsed Anies Baswedan-Sohibul Iman as the cagub and deputy gubernatorial candidates for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu explained the reasons for nominating Anies and Sohibul Iman for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. Anies Baswedan is considered a leader who achieved significant progress while leading DKI Jakarta. According to Syaikhu, Anies’s performance has made happiness to the residents of Jakarta. “Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan excelled as governor during the 2017-2022 period with various accomplishments in different sectors of development, advancing the city and bringing happiness to its residents,” said Syaikhu at the Party Leadership School Opening at Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sohibul Iman, according to Syaikhu, is a scholar. He mentioned that Sohibul also has an impressive track record in government. “Mr. Sohibul Iman is a technocrat and a scholar who has served as the rector of Paramadina University. He has experience in the legislature as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) from 2013-2014 and has been PKS President from 2015-2020,” clarified Syaikhu. Syaikhu stated that PKS is a cadre party with the mandate to conduct cadre and leadership regeneration. Therefore, he said, in the 2024 simultaneous Pilkada, the party will nominate its cadres as candidates for regional heads. “Especially in areas where PKS is the winning party or has a majority of seats in the DPRD. PKS will endeavor to the utmost to endorse its own cadres as candidates,” stated Syaikhu.

Previously, the KPU RI officially launched the stages for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections at Prambanan Temple, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Sunday (31/3). Here is the schedule for the 2024 Pilkada stages:

Syaikhu explained that the decision of the PKS Central Executive Board (DPP) to nominate Anies and Sohibul Iman for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election was based on suggestions from the PKS Jakarta Regional Leadership Council (DPW).

“Whoever becomes the candidate is ultimately for the people of Jakarta, for the good of the people of Jakarta. So there is no problem if the people of Jakarta trust us, of course, we will lead. If not, there is no problem,” said the former PKS President.

“However, the provincial KPU policy is to optimize this to no more than 600 voters per TPS. This means that from the previous 147,451 TPS, there will certainly be merged TPS because the number of voters per TPS has increased according to the regulations,” Ummi continued.

However, it is seen as tough because he previously resigned from his position as deputy governor of Jakarta to run in the 2019 Presidential Election. This has led Sandiaga’s advocates, who are members of Rumah SandiUno Indonesia (RSI), to speak out. It is mentioned that his step down, currently acting as the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, was for the benefit of the people. “Bang Sandiaga Uno’s action to step down from the position of Deputy Governor of DKI at that time was in the interest of the people, especially the residents of Jakarta,” said RSI General Secretary, Denny H Suryo Prabowo, in his statement on Tuesday. He stated that Sandiaga is someone who is always fully committed to his work and duties. “Bang Sandiaga is ever prepared to take on tasks for the benefit of the people and the Indonesian people. Both in the 2017 DKI Regional Election and the 2019 Presidential race, the support for Bang Sandi Uno, who accompanied Pak Prabowo, from the people was also significant,” Denny disclosed. According to him, Sandiaga’s choice to resign from his position as Deputy Governor of Jakarta was because he did not want to sacrifice the interests of the people. “Bang Sandi Uno didn’t want to create a negative precedent for the people by only going on leave from his position as Deputy Governor. He recognized that his responsibilities as Jakarta deputy governor were demanding and could not be juggled with the equally demanding Presidential campaign,” Denny elaborated. He mentioned that Sandiaga Uno felt it was unfair to the people if he worked incompletely, so he decided to withdraw from his position. “Sandiaga Uno {felt|believed|thought
